AFLAC INCORPORATED was incorporated in 1973 under the laws
of the State of Georgia.
AFLAC Inc. is a general business holding company and acts as a management
company, overseeing the operations of its subsidiaries by providing management
services and making capital available. Its primary business is supplemental
health and life insurance, which is marketed and administered primarily through
its subsidiary, American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (AFLAC). Most
of AFLAC's policies are individually underwritten and marketed at worksites
through independent agents with premiums paid by the employee. The Company's
businesses in Japan and the United States service the two markets for its
insurance operations.
The Company is authorized to conduct insurance business in
all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several U.S. territories and foreign
countries. The Company's only significant foreign operation is AFLAC Japan.
The Company's Common Stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the
symbol "AFL"
