ARTESIAN RESOURCES CORPORATION is the parent holding company of Artesian Water Company Inc. (the Company’s principal subsidiary and a regulated public water utility) and several non-regulated subsidiaries. Artesian Water Company was organized in 1927. In 1984, the name of Artesian Water Company was changed to Artesian Resources Corporation and the utility assets were contributed to a newly formed subsidiary, Artesian Water.

The Company distributes and sells water to residential, commercial, industrial, governmental, municipal and utility customers throughout the State of Delaware. The Company also provides water for public and private fire protection to customers in its service territories.

Most of the Company’s existing franchised service areas and customers are in New Castle County in northern Delaware, which is the most populous of Delaware's three counties. However, since 1993 the Company has been significantly expanding its service territory by acquiring new exclusive service areas in southern New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties.

The Company has identified sufficient sources of groundwater supply to serve its expanding customer base for the foreseeable future. The Company’s primary sources of water are its wells that pump groundwater from aquifers and other formations. To supplement the groundwater supply, the Company purchases surface water through interconnections only in the northern service area of New Castle County system. The purchased surface water is blended with the Company’s groundwater supply for distribution to the Company’s customers.

The Company is subject to regulation by federal, state and local agencies with respect to rates charged for water service, awards of new service territory, water allocation rights, water quality and environmental matters, etc.

The Company’s registered office is located at 664 Churchmans Road, Newark, Delaware. The Common Stock is traded on The NASDAQ Stock Market under the symbol "ARTNA".
